Recalled to active duty from the reserves in response to the terrorist attacks on 9/11 (Op. Enduring Freedom), and assigned as the active duty Sergeant Major for Marine Forces Pacific. As the senior enlisted advisor to the Commander, to subordinate command Sergeants Major, and to all enlisted personnel within the command, was responsible for over 79,000 Marines and sailors, administered through 370 subordinate active duty Sergeants Major.
