So I recently saw an article about a young lady( used loosely) that recently joined the Air Force. shortly after joining she was recorded on video having few beers with friends driving down a road. Apparently they were out hunting some N** * their words, the Air Force kicked her out after the video surfaced and gained momentum. I know in most cases these people were raised to hate another race skin color, rather than hating for another reason like religion...lol that was a joke. But seriously I really hope that these type of people go extinct like Neanderthals. In my opinion there is no place for small minded thinking, I hate everyone equally. I say this in regards to anyone that thinks their race is above any other race because of skin color or false pretense..... this is holding us back as a species...personally. What does everyone else think?

I'm a white country boy from the South-and proud to be.

I'm going to tell you straight up, no chaser that some of the closest friends I have in this world are from "minority" races who grew up in the city. Life has taught me that there's only one "color" that matters...blood red. That might sound kinda "gung ho" ignorant...but it's just the simple truth. Some folks will love you till they bleed...others will bleed you no matter how much you love 'em. That's what matters to me.

I wasn't around for Segregation-let alone slavery. Still, I'd imagine that if I had lived in the 1860s, or the 1960s...I'd have found both every bit as reprehensible as I do now. My ancestors who lived through both periods did...and one died in the fight to remove slavery from this country. I'm proud of him, and while I can respect some folks heritage and history (and some of the brave men who fought for what they felt was right)...you won't see a "rebel flag" on this boy's truck, hat, or in his yard.

All that said, I'm equally proud to be descended from Scotsmen, Irishmen (and even a few Frenchmen) who fought for freedom and against tyranny too. The were strung up, falsely accused, shoved into poor houses , workhouses, and the wild frontier. Too many were taken half-starved, straight off boats in New York...and shipped straight to Dixie to fight against their brothers who came there to flee the English and famine. Less than a century ago, to be a white catholic here in Tennessee was a good way to get treated worse than a Cherokee.

Racism works both ways, and is tragically self-reciprocating and self-sustaining. Once a person of any "color" starts believing that everyone of another "color" is their enemy...we all lose.

To "kill" collective racism, we have to feed individual respect...not demand a "balancing" of the cosmic scales, 'cause you can't ever pay that crap back. We have to look at every person as the soul within, judging each by actions...not associations. Most importantly, we have to be willing to be the first to extend a hand in friendship...rather than anger.

CDR: I see the context of your whole narrative and, I grew up in the 1960's, in a little Georgia town you can barely find on the map; Being Black and dealing with the ideology of that time was a lot easier than it is dealing with today's ideology. GOD created ALL humans with the same color blood and the same Holy Spirit. A lot of past and present leaders of ALL races were assassinated because of their character yet, the ideological framework and dynamics behind those assassinations was Race--Skin Color, etc. etc. etc. I think that has a lot to do with why a lot of different ethnicity from different countries now view ALL Americans--(regardless of race--skin-color--religion--beliefs) as evil bad people yet, they fail to look in the mirror and deal with the problems of hate within their own borders....

I personally agree with you 1000000% Its very evident that the theater we call life has changed drastically in a ten year span. I have payed close attention to it through and through. I honestly feel that the times of today are far worse then the 1960s Being the fact that Racism is stronger and it its hidden in plain sight beneath the veil of a smile. I have dealt with it my entire life and i have watch it evolve. Before i was able to ignore it and pay it no mind. Now its impossible, from being fired because one racist woman lies and tells a manager I looked at her funny and made her feel uncomfortable. To being lied to and robbed out of my military leave money then fired from a private corporation for speaking about it. Its very impossible to ignore. Being a reservist i see the night and day difference in the civilian world and in the military. I will say my country is headed in a world of trouble before it will get better. We as a people must gather to combat Racism which divides us and Human trafficking which hinders us and our families.Though i have battle scars i may have faltered but i will not fail.

We will never be able to stop people from thinking and believing what they want to believe. The most we can do is constantly set the example that we are human just like everyone else, so the masses of those who don't hold racist views will help to drown out the hatred.

SP5 Ronald Williams - "...descended from Adam, who was created by God. God's salvation is free to all who call upon his name." Can we really not bear to keep religion out of this? Your beliefs are yours and carry no weight in this discussion. I don't see anything productive coming from derailing a race conversation into one about your religion.

SPC Steven Nihipali - It does matter, Steven, but in all truth NONE of the ones available to us are even remotely accurate records of history or truth. You are extremely rude and unprofessional... To be deliberately prejudiced, I suppose I couldn't expect anything better from a religious nut. Do better.

TSgt (Join to see) - now look who's judging... now, it doesn't matter which bible. The message has and does change in every single transcription from the NKJV, to the easy to read kids version... the message of Christ is the message of Christ. Go cry me a damn river... unprofessional? you only give a damn because you're asshurt. Considering you didn't read anything or know how to comprehend English, I'm assuming English is your first language, being a religious person doesn't mean I can't think for myself or speak freely... if you'd read the bible, you'd learn that... but hey, don't let a religious zealot teach you anything about what's actually IN the bible instead of making fun of it

Unfortunately there aren't emojis here, so let me just tell you... that little hissy fit was hilarious. 1) I literally said "to be deliberately prejudiced...". 2) I grew up in church. You think I haven't read it? You should know what you're talking about before trying to call someone ignorant. 3) You're deliberately crass. I don't know why that statement of fact should be offensive to you when you're clearly doing it on purpose. 4) Do better. On all counts.

IMHO...Racism will always be around...unfortunately. I think that racist tirades are more prevalent because of instant social media reporting. I believe they have always been around under the surface. You want to know the truth about the way someone feels, then get them some loudmouth soup and it is amazing what will come out....the truth! What I also want to state is that racism isn't just white on black or black on white...I have witnessed all of the following blacks against mexicans, native americans against white, chinese against japanese...koreans against japanese, whites against japanese, pacific islanders against "howlies" and all of these vice versa. I hear it in music about killing people of various races. Unless we can stop perpetuating it in the home, stop politicizing it, and through entertainment venues like music, movies, plays etc young people will let it continue and it will get worse.
What we need to do is to realize that God made us all...one race is not better than another...PERIOD. You cut anyone of us we all bleed red, we all eat, sleep, piss, crap, sneeze, pass gas, love, hate, and a myriad of things. However, God made us unique as individuals and as different races for whatever reason (He knows and with faith we can accept that) but we can't survive without each other. That is where we have to understand the strengths and weaknesses of each individual and realize that diversity (all races, religions, genders) is what makes us strong.
Will we ever end racism??? IMHO no but we can make it better one person at a time...starting with looking in the mirror...all of us.

So after witnessing all of it what did you do. Did you say anything. And at that time we’re you a soldier? Or did you just walk away shaking your head and saying to yourself that’s wrong.

SSG Donna Duncan - First...I was never a soldier...I was an Airman for 26 years...but we are all onthe same team. When I saw it or experienced it I attempted to shut it down. This is one of those situations that it can't fester...it has to be dealt with a full frontal attack and nipped inthe bud. However, some folks look at you like you have a third eye and blow you off. If I ever saw it in my unit it was dealt with on the spot with paperwork and discipline...if I got it second or third hand I had it investigated as stories get exagerated when that happens...if found true, I handled it and my SNCO's knew that and usually handled it for me before it got to my level. I experienced it at a Subway restaurant a couple of years ago...I was in line waiting to be served and they looked right over my shoulder to help a family of another race because they were the same. I had a one way discussion with them about how wrong it was and theylaughed me off. I contacted the owner and he reviewed the tapes and saw I was right and suspended the employee. There is just no place for that.

LTC Shuttleworth you are right, but is this really racism or change that people are afraid of? I have been at the receiving end of bigotry for all kinds of reasons....so what? The person I am hasn't changed because of it. I feel so sorry for all the people that allow bigotry or any other stressor to control them, run their emotions and shape them....in my opinion, those in the military have taken a leadership role and if they cannot handle those stressors, they have entered the wrong profession.
