Looks like you have a great time - car problems notwithstanding. I sympathize. I'm a heat hater myself. The hottest it got during my vacation was a scorching 60, which was just fine with me...

We're going to get back on the road as soon as I get the ac fixed. Might just take the upper states rout though. Try to avoid the heat wave.
