Today, December 31, 2019, it is 54 degrees and sunny in my town in North Carolina. The wind and sun had finally put my first set of flags to rest, so I took them down. I intended to put up a fresh set in the Spring 2020 when the trees started leafing, the shrubs blooming, the grass growing. My neighbor, who is a WWII and Korean veteran came over and brought me a lovely Christmas gift. He asked me to please put my flags back up, in the dead, ugly winter. I surprised him and put them up. The WWII, Korean veterans and the war babies, who are in their late 80s and late 90s like to walk or drive by my house and look at the flags.
