Is Political Correctness the New Fascism?

We had a comment here about the alleged racism of people on the right but really, is there an equivalent on the left? Could it be that old school is ageism masquerading as enlightenment?

How is it that the mere mention of Jesus or a prayer at a football game is wrong but Jesus being dipped in urine is ok? Or Muslims with their Sharia Law and Honor Killings are noticeably overlooked?

I even asked one RP member about a Taslima Nasrin from Bangladesh and her work for women? And what was his reply? Basically, “so what about her?” What about her? This woman has been a leading voice in the fight against the abuse of women. This woman has had fatwas put out on her because of the repression of Islamic women. She has been assaulted because she believes as well as other things that female mutilation is wrong.

Is the Democratic Party more about demographics than actual causes? Does impugning Christians, military tradition and the flag bolster free speech or limit it? Why does only one viewpoint meet the litmus test of politically correct thought?

And what about immigration and the charges of racism? Thousands of people immigrate here every year but they do it legally and generally follow the laws of this great nation. So it is not really racism but a perspective that the rule of law is a good thing for all of us. And finally and most importantly a perspective that is different from yours, whether that is Religion, Science or Political opinions/orientation.

SSgt (Join to see) - Political correctness is in the eye of the beholder. I don't know who elected the liberals as the arbiters of what is politically correct or not. My credo is "Why should I be politically correct when I can be right?"...

This discussion will avoid speed bumps if we begin by defining our terms...

Liberalism has two contradictory usages. Traditional liberals (like myself) love individual liberty. Neo Liberals hate it. Be careful to indicate which you're referring to.

Political Correctness is not an ideology. It is an instrument of limiting free speech. Fundamentally it restricts us from saying anything that might offend anyone regardless of whether or not it is true.

Fascism is national socialism practiced in Spain, Germany, Italy, and Japan during the mid-Twentieth Century. In every instance it gave rise to a despotic rule over the citizens of those nations and resulted in a global war that left millions dead (including many citizens of the nations in which fascism took root)

Applying these definitions to the slogan appearing on the young woman's tee shirt will only lead to confusion. It is a non sequitur: A statement that has no internal logic or does not follow logically from a previous argument or statement.

I think is has been the new fascism for some time SSgt (Join to see).
Dating back to the French Revolution the new liberalism of the time was ruthless as it was executed.
The current liberalism with its penchant for demanding tolerance for its pet projects is very hypocritical in that it demands acceptance of whatever the liberal wants but is very intolerant of opposing views.
