11 bravo life and ranger school?

How similar is what an 11 bravo does in he field compared to what you do in ranger school?

close but more intense more map reading skills living off the land & become one with it blend in so the enemy can't find you everything the Infantryman squad dose the ranger dose by him self not always but are trained to do it alone just before I was going to ranger school I walked in to the blade of a forklift cut my head got stiches couldn't go into the pool at pre Qualify PT if you couldn't pass the test your unit wouldn't send you. most of my unit was ranger active duty after the tour of duty was up they joined the ARMY NATIONAL GUARD INFANTRY UNITS LIKE MINE it was peace time COLD WAR PRESIDENT REAGAN 1981 to 1987 my time of enlistment the ARMY was cutting back on MOS had a lot of troops joining us in AIT most changing from other MOS to 11-B Infantry MOS or take early Discharges the only way to stay in and keep their rank was to go 11-B

Ranger School teaches the basics. Even if you don't do an ambush in training at your unit you will use the basics like formations, movement techniques, IMT, camouflage and concealment, planning, controling rates of fire. If you applied what you are taught at Ranger School to your units field problems you'll be a section leader in no time.

Training TTPs at Ranger school and at an infantry unit are basically the same (if you are in a decent unit). Ranger school is like an intensive program where they cram a year's worth of quality infantry training into 62 days... And students do it with a lot less sleep and not nearly enough food.

You will perform small unit tactics every day. But you will lead people at their very worst and at your very worst under the worst possible conditions. Everything sucks. Everyone will be tired, hungry, malnourished, weak, sleep deprived, grumpy, snappy, and constantly pissed off. You'll all be cold, wet, hot, sore, injured, and the rucks will he soul crushingly heavy. Sometimes well over a hundred pounds. When you think you couldn't possibly carry any more weight, your buddy will become a casualty and you'll have to carry their heavy ass ruck - and them - up a mountain or through a swamp.
That's the easy part. The hard part is when you're the one getting graded and not only do you have to do all that, but you have to lead everyone, make on the spot decisions under fire and in the pitch dark, and still maintain accountability of all of your people and their equipment after getting blown out of your patrol base or reacting to an ambush.

I’ve only been to pre ranger but the no sleep no eat always tactical thing is a constant. I never had a 64 day field exercise though

Hey man, it’s not that hard. You’re not in the field for 62 days. You’re not always hungry or sleep deprived.
Think of it as climbing Mount Everest. You have to hit those base camps to acclimate.
Same thing with Ranger school. The first FTX is two 3 day exercises. Mountain phase is two five day exercises. Florida phase is one ten day exercise.
In between they teach you what you need to. You have a bed, shower, food, laundry sand enough time to write letters.
Don’t let people make you think it’s some incredibly daunting task. It’s not easy, don’t get me wrong, but I graduated with an S1 clerk, a fueled, a PV2 from the national guard. You can do it man.

Ranger School is the ultimate small unit tactics leadership school. Everything you do as an 11B will be evaluated in Ranger School, and then some! You will not only be required to be an expert in all aspects of individual Soldier tasks, but also be required to lead other Soldiers in patrolling, patrol base activities, priorities of work, small unit battle drills, etc. I highly recommend this course. You will learn as much about yourself as you will learn about leadership.

Similar but different. Rangers destroy seldom defend. 11b attacks defends. Rangers work nor BN strength and less. Grunts companies and up to Division strength
