Here at Schofield Barracks, we are now authorized to wear our "Jungle Expert" tabs. My Battalion was the first to go through the inaugural Jungle Operations Training Course here on Oahu. Other units will be following shortly. One is already in the process.
Tabs like "Arctic", "Pershing (according to AR 670-1), "Honor Guard", and "Jungle Expert" are authorized for wear in certain situations. The Sapper tab was not a tab not too long ago. People went through the course and it eventually became an authorized tab for wear. It was after that when people started wearing it. Should all the temporary tabs be allowed to be more permanent tabs? Worn everywhere? Not worn? What about awards/memos? For the Jungle Expert tab there is a memo of who is authorized to wear it but I believe they are still working on getting something official for the OMPF.

CONGRATS on getting your Jungle Expert tab!

Not sure behind the reasoning behind a temporary tab. It is worth getting a tab, you should always be able to wear it.

I guess only time will tell if temporary tabs become permanent.

As I recall it is a patch worn on the right pocket of your whatever the current fatigue uniform is called.

This would decentralize awards and COULD descend into Chaos. See no problem wearing "specialized" tabs / pocket patches while assigned to the awarding unit....great for "Esprit De Corps'..... but once you are reassigned they should be removed
