Bush doubled down on the public debt and liberals were screaming while the grass roots tea party rose in opposition. BO is hell bent on doubling bushs' trillions. Yet, the liberals...crickets now that it's a D in the high chair.

In 2015, Republicans tried to keep from raising the debt ceiling, but were branded as anti-government/anti-military/anti-veteran/anti-old people, etc. by Democrats and complicit media.

wait a minutes! TEA PARTY fight Bush for spending too! don't you even tell me TEA PARTY didn't fight BUSH for spending. liberal love to hijack "GOOD STUFF" and make them looks good.

Tea Party started at Bush second term. So YES, Tea Party did go against Bush's spending. That is the reason why it started at the first place. Tea Party had no affiliation with either political party, although GOP did try extra hard to coop the Tea Party, and in some area they did take over, and Tea Party push back too, thus all the internal fight that is still happening in GOP right now. That is AFTER Obama is in the white house.

I wouldn't say that many here don't seem to care, or anywhere else - why would anyone say that here... because they are active or former military and "don't know anything about this stuff?". Quite the contrary. It is a hard truth to accept by all, both military, civilian, AND elected officials, regardless of partisan affiliation - we're going to have to have major cuts, increases in taxes for a span of 10 years or more - and knuckle down on trade imbalances of all kinds. OR.... sell California or Hawaii to a major debtor. You cannot pay your bills with a credit card for too long, before your monthly minimum payments outstrip your ability to make the payments anymore. Not without some serious income, or serious removal of debt. Not one solution will fix this issue. We need ALL of the solutions, ALL at once, and a complete enema in DC to make it happen.

Well here's your problem - firstly, credit (and it's use/abuse) is taught at birth. What's the average balance, $10,000? And not only is it taught at birth, the sheep doing it welcome it. If you can't shop for gas and groceries with cash, then you don't make enough money. If you don't make enough money, why are you still working for that company? So when Joe and Jane sixpack are using credit "to make ends meet" why would governments use/abuse of "credit cards" throw up any flags?

Part of the problem may be that the number is incomprehensible. I remember once being told that some Indians counted one, two, and a heap. A heap was plenty. The largest Roman numeral is a Myriad (10,000) Those of us who have served, especially in the Army, can visualize larger numbers. We can see ranks of 10 x files of 10. A company. A battalion. A regiment. A division. A corps. An Army. But a trillion? A trillion simply isn't real for most. After tiring our brains, we simply dismiss the whole notion as fantasy and decide that the government will just print enough money to pay the debt. Economics is beyond most people. Monetary policy a mystery.

I think it's a number that is so large that it's hard for most people to really grasp it's enormity. Besides, a lot of people are still struggling just to get out of their own debt, so they have more pressing problems to work with. We need to reduce government spending and grow the economy through innovation, to address both those problems.

Its not too large. The apathy is too large. Who wants to reign it in? Whats the answer? If you're paying for groceries/essentials/gas with credit cards, you don't earn enough money. Why not? Whats the average pay raise, 1.5%? Who's the clown that allows this when inflation is rising 7%? One guess. Look in the mirror. Want gay marriage, abortion and gunz as your main election issue? YOU GOT IT. IN SPADES. "Oh you're barely making ends meet? Damn...why didn't you say so? Now bend over while I outsource your job to goobistan." Stupid voters.
