Can you register a vehicle in Texas while overseas?

Backstory:
I arrived in Texas with Oklahoma tags and registration then immediately left on a Korea rotation. My truck has been stored on Fort Hood the entire time.
My registration will expire before I return and since I no longer live in Oklahoma I can't renew there.
Is there a way to register my vehicle online before I return from the rotation so that I can get home?

CW2 (Join to see) Sir Texas vehicle Registration requires a state inspection, if the vehicle is stored that won't be possible, and thus it can not be registered.
The good news, there is no penalty in Texas for late registration unless a citation was issued against the vehicle showing it WAS being used on a public road during the non registered period.

CW2 (Join to see) - Not sure the South Dakota registration is the best option. If you do register yr vehicle in SD and are in fact living in TX by virtue of your reassignment here, you'll have 30 days to get yr vehicle reregistered in TX once y ou get back. While not real expensive, it is still a pop along with the inspection requirement. I am going to check with SGM Erik Marquez to see if there is some reciprocal agreement between TX & OK to let you keep yr OK registration while stationed here in TX.

Chief as long as you are a resident of OK, and in TX for just for active duty, there is no need to register your vehicle in TX. It may keep it registered in your home of record or home of residency. Your DL should match your OK registration though.
My 1st response was just to your question, I did not consider you might WANT to keep it registered in OK.
If you change your residency to TX, or you get a TX DL (like say you come take a motorcycle safety course and want to get the endorsement on your DL, doing so in TX) then the veh registration "should" move to TX as well....as you can not get a TX Dl unless you "prove" residency.
