2-star general begins probe of Bergdahl's 2009 disappearance

With former captive Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl receiving treatment at a military hospital after almost five years of imprisonment by the Taliban-allied Haqqani network, the Army has appointed a two-star general to conduct a new investigation into how he disappeared in June 2009.

We all are curious to know what becomes of this and why it happened when all said and done. This investigation will take some time before the facts are complete.

I'm pretty sure the Taliban has already probed him, repeatedly...
That 2 star may want to consider a few latex barriers if he's going deep.

Seriously, who uses the word probe these days around a bunch of grunts?

I too would give Bergdahl's probing a two star vote for all the troops that died trying to look for him after he decided to "walk the earth"!

The way I see it if they find any sort of evidence to condemn this guy of walking away and joining the Taliban (which they pretty much already have) they need to fry his ass. I'm sorry but soldiers died looking for this guy and we gave up 5 Taliban leaders to get him back...If and when he's proven guilty he needs to pay and get the book thrown at his face. Ok rant over

I trust the members of his unit who have given testimony thus far. Infantry guys tend not to mince words or sugar-coat things that happen in combat.

If they find that Bergdahl didn't desert, that will open up the floodgates for every malcontent private to walk away from his/her place of duty in order to go "find him/herself spiritually." AWOL and Desertion will cease to be a punishable crime in the Military and will significantly weaken our Military.
