He had to sign a waiver on Retirement to be allowed and that would be almost 30 years ago at this point. Your best place to inquire would be with the TAG for the State National Guard that lost you to active service and get their reading on the issue. TAG = The Adjutant General. A NG Personnel Specialist may be able to assist you in some regards towards finding out. Speaking as a Retirement Services NCO here. If you are still able to, I would find a recruiter and reenlist with a RC. Just an idea.
