Have you heard of this? I read an interesting article about GEN Odierno's Regionally Aligned Forces (RAF) strategy at Foreign Policy. What is your opinion of the RAF strategy? Hard to tell how many in total, but it seems to be a greatly reduced pace from the past several years; a very good thing. I didn't see any mention of Guard and Reserve forces. I do think they should stay in the mix, but also at a greatly reduced pace. There probably is a place of them in rotations of a shorter duration; say six months. If they were to do that every four or five years they would continue to be part of the total force and share a higher state of readiness than is possible in the purely :"traditional reservist" model.
