Robin Williams was notorious for spending a lot of time with troops downrange and with wounded warriors back home. I'm wondering now if he was seeing in the soldiers suffering from PTSD what he was experiencing himself - depression, suicidal thoughts, etc... I'm starting (I think) to realize that he spent so much time doing USO shows and meeting with troops/wounded warriors because he was seeing his demons inside of them and he felt that by helping the troops, he could help himself.
I think we see the same thing in troops suffering from PTSD. They want to reach out to military/wounded warrior communities post-service as a therapy in a sense. To be around those suffering like them as it makes it seem or feel normal vs feeling like you're the only one dealing with it.

Interesting theory and one that would require some deep introspection. I saw him at a USO show and he really did seem to thrive, not just enjoy, but THRIVE on the interaction with the troops. You may be on to something here, Sir.
