I always had a deep respect for the Armed Forces growing up because my Dad was in The Air Force then worked for The Marine Corps as a Civillian. To this day I am still unsure why I chose The Army but I do know that I do not regret a thing. This has been The greatest experience of my life. There is not a greater honor. Happy Birthday U.S. Army!

Duty

My father and his brothers were all drafted in the Vietnam era. He went on to be a 28 yr Navy veteran from enlisted to Officer his sense of service to country always rang true to me. I knew I would serve. I have proudly served 22 yrs and take pride in doing so.

Happy 240th birthday UNITED STATES ARMY, I served 25 years and 3 days for the Army. Would not have changed 1 day well worth the time, it's priceless.

I guess I should share my story if I'm asking y'all yours.

My grandfather served in the 28th ID in WWII, his brother served in 8th ID in the same conflict (buried in Brittany). My uncle served in the USMC during Vietnam.

I admired their service to country and how they continued service in their respective communities after separating. My dad was a hippie and eschewed service to country...his mentoring didn't take on that issue.

I joined 24 years ago as a mechanic on a four year contract. Along the way, love for country and God's call extended me out to where I'm now serving as a chaplain for God and Country.

I served my country for 20 years in the army and 23 years as a senior civilian defense official because I loved my country and because I loved and respected the people I was surrounded with. There are great people and not-so-great people in every profession. Those that serve there country, however, are a special breed. Where else but in the armed services Will you find people who don't know you well who are willing to die for you and for millions of people they have never met?

My dad was horse Cavalry prior to WWII He retired as a CW4 in 74. My uncle was an OD LTC. 7 uncles served in WWII. I was raised among the military. All my dad's friends had served I listened to their stories...I never wanted to be anything else but a soldier. What could be a more noble profession than serving your country?

I served (Army) to continue a family tradition of service to our country. All branches at least as far back as the Civil War.

Happy Birthday my beloved U.S. Army. My Grandpa, my Dad, my Brother, Me, and my Son all served in the U.S. Army. I served honorably 20 years and one month, best time of my life, I loved every bit of it. I like to say, like the song, "Its a Family Tradition."

I originally joined the Army because I needed money to payoff my student loans and once that was done I would ETS and go back to college. All of that changed because I began having fun and I had the honor of working alongside some of the greatest people on this planet. My Pop was an Air Force Attache in Vietnam; two uncles and a cousin that were Marines in Vietnam; cousins that were Army Paratroopers (I did the same); a aunt and uncle that were Army; a cousin who was SF in Vietnam; Grandfather who was Air Force then Navy during the Korean War; and an uncle who retired from the Navy. I have been in the Army for 27 years now and being associated with a small number of US citizens who have volunteered to defend this great nation is an honor.
