31D in National Guard/Reserves? https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/31d-in-national-guard-reserves

I'm having some difficulty finding information about 31D and have some questions about it. First off, I've heard that the National Guard no longer has any CID units and that everything is now on the Reserve side. This goes against info on the official Army and National Guard websites but I thought it was worth asking.

Second, what exactly would one expect to do in a Reserve CID unit. A part time detective seems like an oxymoron. If anyone could share any insight into drills, full time opportunities and what goes into holding onto what would appear to be rather perishable skills.

I'm enlisting in the National Guard and using STA to finish up my Associates and trying to see what my options would be upon completion.

Thanks for any help you could provide Wed, 22 Jul 2020 08:03:48 -0400 31D in National Guard/Reserves? https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/31d-in-national-guard-reserves

I'm having some difficulty finding information about 31D and have some questions about it. Recruiters are going to play on what your goals are, so make sure what you want is in your contract. I was Marine Corps first and then went National Guard to finish my last year of college. They told me my drills would be in one place and I ended up having to drive to our detachment unit an hour away. So, be careful dealing with the guard. That can experience can be civilian or military and I believe you need two years worth. You could potentially enlist as a 31B in the NG and then transfer to the reserves and apply then once you have the experience. Very few conduct criminal investigations, however you can volunteer individually for a MOB or Deployment where their is a need for Investigators ( your unit has the ability to allow you to be on loan ). Drill weekends will consist of big Army task such as admin duties and a mixture of law enforcement training by your unit SGT Private RallyPoint Member Wed, 28 Oct 2020 05:17:32 -0400 2020-10-28T05:17:32-04:00 2020-07-22T08:03:48-04:00
