This might sound a little weird, but seeing the promotion points being maxed out for my MOS is motivating. I am not the type to sit around and wait for points to fall. I want to be proactive and max out all the portions of the PPW. My weakest point continues to be awards and I can close the last 30 points to max out the PT test and qual score, but other than that it was just NCOES that was keeping me down. When I first became promotable, I wanted to be one of those guys who got promoted at 798. Despite being maxed out, there is one 35F, alone and unafraid, out there who made points this month. Hats off to you, buddy. I will make it soon too. How do the E4s and SGT(P)s feel about it?

All I'm happy about is that lack of automatic promotions to E5 and E6.

SFC (Join to see) funny you mention that. As a PFC, I was trying to max out all my ed points. My fellow 35Fs thought I was crazy because it was 2013 and anyone who was boarded became a SGT. Back then, I was doing it to become a better soldier in general. Now I dont have to play the catch up game my peers do.

It sucks, it was 39 (SGT)/14 (SSG) points for years then it jumps to 798. I understand the need for force reduction, but it definitely isn't motivating me to stay in. For our MOS, a lot of the high-quality soldiers/NCOs are going to leave the service because they do have the capabilities and experience to pull in a good position as a civilian.

SSG (Join to see) There's no incentive for me to stay in, especially with the way I've been treated in my unit.

We are having this issue with 35N right now. One downside to this is that some Soldiers are used to the points being so low, so they figure they don't have to do anything to get promoted. And then, bam! We have points that are in the 400 point range and upwards to 798. When this happens they just simply can't get promoted and that is what we are running into right now.

SGT (Join to see) Yeah, I have 580 points, but am no longer eligible for promotion because I can't get my command to send me to ALC. I'll probably reach 798 points and still not get promoted under the new system because of the NCOES requirement.

That is a good attitude to have towards it, I watched every Fox for the past instant promote while my points were maxed out, but I. The end I am better for it.
