Surely soldiers are given the choice to live off-post, but some choose to be housed on post because of the proximity to their duty location. I have overheard conversation of soldiers complaining lately about the unfair cost of housing on post. And I was tempted to agree with some of the opinions voiced: On-post housing's cost should be lowered. What do you think RallyPoint community?

what does on-post housing bring? compare what you get on post, like manned security gate, on post rec facility.
sure, you can rent off post cheaper, but all things considered, it's certainly not equal
it depends on what you find value in
take it or leave it, but don't complain about your choice

No utilities, no repair bills unless it is needed because of negligence. I seriously doubt on base is much more if any expensive than off.

If I remember correctly
Living on post you did not have to pay any utilities.
Hell of a deal

They have installed power meters on many bases. They have a baseline energy usage and if you go over by a certain percent, you get charged extra. If you are under by a cerntain percentage, you get a refund. I have consistantly been getting about 50 bucks back every month.

A lot of places now, that is not correct. They have turned over operations to civilian vendors, who charge you rent according to rank and while the government is giving you housing allowance for this, it doesn't include utilities.
