Can I participate in an EIB even though I am not 11 or 18 series? Would studying EIB tasks prepare me for Ranger School?

I am a 92Y in an infantry unit. I plan on going to Ranger School. I have already passed the RPFT and have participated in multiple field problems with my unit (Squad STX, LFX, BDE FTX) one of which has earned me an AAM. My unit wants to volunteer me to do an EIB APFT. Is it allowed for me to participate in an EIB course even though I am not 11 or 18 series? Also, would studying EIB tasks help prepare me for Ranger School in any way?

Any MOS can participate in the EIB testing. It would be a great introduction and training event to prepare you for Ranger School.

What I would do if I were you is fill out a 4187 to request assignment.to the 75th Ranger Regiment. Ranger Regiment
Ent will prepare you and also send you to Ranger School.

Always remember, The tab is just a school, the Scroll is a way of life!!!!

The opportunity to go to the Ranger Regiment will not happen unless you make it happen. You have to put forth the effort. If that is what you want, you have a volunteer for it. Unless you volunteer the opportunity will never cross your path

Listen to this man, he was my BN XO at 1/75. He knows what he's talking about. If you do have what it takes the Regiment needs you, it's very hard to get Soft skill MOSs through RASP in today's Army. The Regiment is all volunteer and hired, therefore we DO NOT get replacements through DA orders.

Yes you can go to the eib for training. I would highly recommend it. At Ranger school you have to do the ranger training tasks. If you fail four of the seven tasks you will be dropped from rap week. These tasks mirror EIB.
