It has the same curriculum and requirements as any other BLC Academy. As of July all Academy's are changing their POI to a more academic focus. We are removing land navigation and STX and adding a few different types of essays like a compare and contrast paper and a resume. I believe that the Camp Beurhing Academy is 22 days straight.

This new POI is significantly more focused on the experiential learning cycle. So expect a more open group discussion as opposed to SGL(Facilitator) lead powerpoint classes. These POI changes literally go into effect NLT next month. So it will be a learning experience for the cadre of the Academy just as much as it will be for you as a student.

Since most of the discussions will be focused on personal experiences, if you feel that you don't have enough experience in the Army to be able to contribute to class discussion, I would recommend you read the following books; "Black Hearts" by Jim Frederick, "The Fires of Babylon" by Mike Guardia and "The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership" by John C. Maxwell. All of these books talk about the hardships of leadership in one way or another. I promise they will help make you a more critical and creative thinker.

Above all else, remember why you are there. Don't go to BLC to "check the block" so you can go get promoted. Go with an open mind, learn from the wide variety of MOS's that will be attending with you, make honest as opposed to repeated mistakes, and participate in a constructive, not disruptive way.
