I have a PT test in a couple weeks and have been working on pushups and situps. Two weeks ago I pulled lower abdominal muscles. Fri and Sat I took a break, iced, stretched. I ordered a compression band to try that. Now the pain is just lower left abdomen more into groin area. Does anyone have recommendations for pain relief creams or gels or anything else to try? I did this in Jan in SLC too somehow - pulled hip flexor (higher up near groin) doing pushups but I was working on them far more there. Now I was just doing so many in the morning and at night and mostly doing the ones where you go down slow then come up fast (mostly on my knees with those). It just started to hurt about two weeks ago but seems more isolated to lower left side now. I think I can get through the PT test likely just doing the minimums on this one and I do the walk and it doesn't really hurt much when I walk. But it kills in pushups and wasn't in situps until yesterday. I found some suggestions on creams, using ice, stretches, etc. Just wondering what has worked for others to try.

I got hurt in the desert in 1991, so they loaded me up with "Ranger Pills" and I went right back to work.

That is a quick fix; kill the pain and drive on! But it doesn’t fix the root of the problem; the reason why it hurts. As a young Soldier I though I could conquer the world but the true is that the world conquered me! Joints, back, and everything else that follows after 20 plus years of jump status. Folks need to take care of them self since playing invincible isn’t worth a dime!

800mg Ibuprofen doesn't do anything for me...and I'm getting to the point I need to not kill myself. I need to make it six more years to retire to take care of my daughter.

Lol I don't drink - and I'm a single mom. I don't have that luxury even if I did drink.

Rest, ice, and ibuprofen. Alternate heat and ice maybe. See the doc in case it is something worse SFC (Join to see) . Lastly getting old sucks- sometimes rubbing dirt on it is all we can do. Before you get pissed- I am 53 and still running almost every day. It is hard to not run and sometimes I grin and bear it. Don't push pace, do less of the exercises that hurt, and if the doc states you need an extension talk to the commander/ shirt and see what can be done. Good luck and let me know how you are doing- cool?

SICK CALL!!! Get the condition evaluated ASAP. I realize you don't want to be put on a medical hold with a PCS coming up, but it you have something other than a muscle strain, get it diagnosed. At a medical facility, not on here.

SFC (Join to see) - I went through COT at 48. Older than me were two chaplains and no one really cared of they did anything on the PT. I was always n the Top 10 on PT stuff. We had a commander's 5K one day and I took 4th or 5th. I ran a 20:05 and felt every muscle in my body the next day. I had ran a marathon a week before going to COT and this was still only 3 weeks later. I run for enjoyment and race only when it is a club event. Now if you have a hernia- you need to get in like yesterday. You can aggravate it worse

1SG Charles Hunter - I'm going to my PCM next Monday. That was the soonest I could get in. I'm at an AF Base...so things are different at their clinic.

Maj Marty Hogan - I'm hoping it's not a hernia. But going next Monday.
