47% of Democrats are proud to be an American. How about you?

A new poll released by Gallup this week revealed that a minority of Democrats, only 47 percent, say they are “extremely proud” to be Americans.

According to the poll, which surveyed 1,527 adults from June 2-7, a solid majority of Independents (53%) and Republicans (68%) say they are extremely proud to be Americans:

This is intentionally misleading. What's the difference between very proud, highly proud and extremely proud and just proud. The semantics in this are dodgy at best. How about thrilled to be an American or absolutely head over heals thrilled? Get my drift ? The poll obviously didn't define the differences in the wording.

This source, The Federalist Is a Republican periodical, think that you'll get a fair interpretation? If so, I have a bridge to sell you.

Your title to this say "proud to be Americans" the poll is about "Extremely proud" there is a very important difference. One can be proud without being extremely proud. I also find it sort of funny how so many of you hunt down anti democrat articles, but omg if something anti republican comes up.

I'm surprised they released this poll. The 53% of Democrats and the 32% of Republicans who are not proud to be Americans are the ones running around the world apologizing (!!!) for being American. Pitiful!!

You bet I'm proud to be an American. When the world needs help, they don't call Russia or China or North Korea (ha ha) or even the United Nations. No, they call the good old USA, and we should all be proud of that and all the great things America has done at home and abroad for 240 or so years.
