I have a friend who just graduated the Q course and is supposed to go to MFF in September. Only problem is he got LASIK done about 4 months ago and is being told two different things. One is SWCS saying he should be good to still attend the course with only 4 months post op time and the other thing he is being told is he has to wait 6 months, which is the Schoolhouse policy apparently.

Anybody have any experience with this or know if he still might be good to go with just 4 months?

SWC has a Surgeon that can approve waivers. It’s entirely up to him. Regardless of what the reg says he can waive it if he is willing to assume risk. He will do it, because he understands that going to MFF is not a requirement to go to Group but an incentive for graduating the Q-Course. However, if they don’t go before going to GRP, they will probably never get another chance. on the same note, sometimes they have more students than they have instructors so they are looking to drop opportunist. It could either way. The best thing to do is contact the SWC surgeons office and find out the waiver process and get aggressive with it. Tell him to prove just how bad he was to fly. Best of luck.

SSG (Join to see), here’s a response from MSG Dan Castaneda. I don’t know where you can get a response with greater specificity from s soldier who has traveled the trail.
Thanks for “jumping” in, MSG Dan Castaneda!

Don't quote me on this but if I had to guess I'd say it was fine. We had people in my unit get LASIK and then deploy soon after.
