Do you notice a change in the military climate/culture when the President of the United States is a Republican vs a Democrat?

From my experience (Reagan, Bush, Clinton, Bush, Carter) it just seemed like the Republicans had more respect for the military.

Sgt Bob Leonard True but the Guard and Reserves are components of the parent branch. You cite a difference without distinction.

Why does it matter who is president? In general, Republicans have more respect for the military. I say that as one who is not a registered Republican.

SGT (Join to see) - I believe tht is a complete misquote. He was specifically speaking about a senator.
Love? That's a stretch.
Almost every single accusation of a quote that I have researched about DJT have been false. It's not to hard to find the actual speeches, where he allegedly make the "shocking statement", just to find that what was said, was either deliberately misquoted, taken extremely out of context, or as in the "nuke the hurricane" comment, completely unsupported or made up.
President Trump said a lot of stupid things. It'ds not hard to find the stupid things he did say. But that wasn't good enough, the TDS's always seem to feel the need to exagerate, if not deliberately lie about what was said, and the sheep just run with it.
I actually found one "statement" not only blatently made up, but deep faked from a speach, using sentences spoken litterally minutes apart, clipped and pasted together, to make up a false recording. All you gad to do was watch the background to pick up the fake
Do your own research. You might just find it educational.

SFC Tracy Donahoo - As a guardsman, the same applies. Republican governors are better to serve under as well.

We got good pay raises from Republicans Ford and Reagan. Under Democrats we were lucky to get a cost of living raise that covered inflation. Case in point, Carter.

SP5 Tony Seel - I have taken numerous accounting classes and this article is crap. Let it be known that Trump had the largest deficit in history for a fiscal year. lol

I have taken two accounting classes and I work as a financial advisor. I don't think your characterization is accurate.

Eh. Bitterly complaining about everything is one of the finest traditions of military service. The only thing that ever changes is who they’re whining about

Sgt Tim Horton I didn’t try to get any of my buddies killed, which is established fact that you would.

Also none of my buddies were attractive.

I get that you’re big mad you didn’t get to go fight but there are other ways to compensate for your pee pee not working anymore bud

Sgt Tim Horton that’s some serious projection bud…that’s really not my thing so you just keep your tips and techniques to yourself

I’d tell you where you could come find me since you’re the toughest guy on the internet but there’s a school at the end of the street and I understand you’re not allowed to get this close to them

Sgt Tim Horton - You may have become a "Sgt" before you left or were forced out, but you are ate up with hate and conspiracies today. You are a sick puppy that needs to be institutionalized next to your dysfunctional peers.

SFC Thomas Foreman - Clinton took the drawdown way below what Bush had planned. The troop cuts were deeper for one thing. I don't have the exact numbers on hand but I remember my impression at the time was in the name of "cutting fat" from the military budget we were sawing off limbs.

If I remember correctly, during the 80s Reagan build-up we had some 16 Active Army Divisions (I hope I'm remembering right, it's been years and I haven't looked it up). The Bush 41 plan called for a reduction to 14 (the number we had by 1993) Divisions - In 1994 the Clinton Administration took it down to 10. Then 9/11 hit after Clinton and once again I understand, the military was coping with the same issues we encountered after four years of Carter. History repeating itself.

Could the Army afford to "downsize" after the Cold War? Sure. The "peace benefits" were real. But how much? It appears one of the two parties fails to realize it's often cheaper not only in dollars and cents, but in blood to maintain an effective, strong fighting force than to tear one down and pay the cost of rebuilding it during the next crisis. History teaches us there will ALWAYS be a next crisis.

Did we need four full divisions plus two independent combat brigades in Europe after the Cold War? Probably not. But instead of deactivating two and kicking good people out of the Army, perhaps we could have de-activated one, brought one home to a Stateside post where it might have helped a local economy and been available in case. That "in Case" came in 2000. Or now. That's for people above my pay grade.

I just can't help but think the deep budget cuts of the 90s cost us a lot more than money in the 2000s.
