Personally, I think that the different color belts are a much better idea that way you can avoid an unneeded sharp complaint. (some people are petty like that)

The P.T. belt is way out of control. I loved when we went from the shoot me F*#k me vests to the P.T. belt but, I am starting to miss the vest now. I swear I have every color of P.T. belt made and I count it as pro gear when I PCS. The other services laugh at us for "color coding" and putting our rank on our P.T. belt and I don't blame them, it's ridiculous.

I do however like the fact that everyone in the division formation can see the officers and NCOs that fall out of the division runs. That almost makes it worth it...almost.

CDR (Join to see) - When did you go through? I went through basic in 93, and everyone was wearing sneakers by then. This is kinda a moot point now.

Not sure how I survived 21 years in the Army - Asia Europe Africa - without ONCE wearing a stupid reflective belt OR vest. If someone is too stupid to avoid getting hit by a car...that is the Darwin Principle in effect.

How about neither?

I am doing PT to do PT. When in a squad platoon or company, everyone in that formation knew the ranks of the leaders. For every confrontation I have ever observed during PT, it was from one person outide the unit of the other. An introduction was always involved but more importantly, rank was never the issue -- one person was doing something not correct (or in a unit doing something not correct) and the other person (leader) was making a correction. Rank was an accessory to the entire situation.

Some may wear rank because it makes them feel good about themselves. My CSM told me that if I can salute and have a retort to every solider that ran by, then I wasn't doing hard enough PT.

If someone in my unit saw me doing PT, I would expect them to say, "Good morning, sir" when recognized and they should expect I will greet them as well (any NCO want to help educate the masses on the real origin of the salute...unarmed, not a nod to rank or position).

We differentiate in cases like this but we are not sincere about the reasons. Lack of sincerity is one of the main themes in the recent study on us being dishonest as a force.

Let it go. If for an hour and half of your day you are not given a nod because you have rank, it'll be okay. If you are a junior soldier, don't be disrespectful and play dumb.

Do harder PT!

How can any soldier do PT and not know who the leader is giving it. Evan a visiter gets the the warning that Cpl, Spc(p), Sgt, Ssg, Sfc... or so is giving PT today/tomorrow. OMG look out it will be hard/brutal/easy day.
Joe likes to talk. I think this is someone looking for something to post to impress.
I am not impressed by this discussion.
How about, can you tell me about your hardest, best results leading PT?
I was known for the "Jane Fonda" workought. She had that video for arobics. I tought everyone to be stronger than her and have abbs of steal.
They cried so much when I gave PT.
Abbs were my weakness.
We worked them so hard when I was leading PT.

When I was doing PT, there was somebody in charge. They directed the PT. They ran the show. You were in their PT doing what they told you to do. They usually started the PT by telling everyone who they were and what to expect.

There's no rank during PT. The only ones who pull rank are the officers getting a beat down by junior enlisted. It's all good.

You should know the Officers and NCOs in front of you.
If you don't your leaders failed you. Possibly your chain of command.

As an Aviator, As an engineer I am finding this thread very insultuing. I think we have had high standards for our soldiers.
I hope anyone on enlisted duty sees and read this.
This is a good thinking lesson for E6 and bellow.
Squad leaders and assiant squad leaders keep Joe/Jane informed.
I have been through wars, promotion boards, woundering if I would live throught the rest of the day, let alone the week or the month.

You should know the Officers and NCOs in front of you.
If you don't your leaders failed you. Possibly your chain of command.

All NCOs have the rank of Senior NCOs and Officers.
Why does it matter????

Did the military fall upside down this year?
Why does anyone care about Physical Fitnessness instructers rank for the person leading it. Ok it might be imporat in conversation. My solders would have known a month in advance normally.
Ususally THAT NCO IS working very hard to do best to lead the way by example in front of all of so many watching that "Might" punk out for days.
The rank is the highest in the unit doing PT at that time. And if you doubt me, go up and tell them NO.
The Officer or NCO that smacks you right down... Lowest rank in the authority of the one giving PT at that moment.

Late to formation for division run.
The person that told me has the rank of the 82nd fort bragg base commander.

None cares about a PT shirt (stars/sash/belt).
Who takes that into combat? Burrial detail, Unit formal?
Audy Murphy is rolling in his grave...
Did everyone forget Bnoc and Anoc.
Baron von Steuben...

The only thing that matters......

NCOs have the rank of the officer or NCO that set them to a task.
NCO's accomplish the Officers Oath (Officers I hope you remember, we keep your oath).
This is a stupid stupid conversation.
I really must go back to what is wrong with people asking rank of leader in PT.
Rule 1.
Follow you orders.
Rule 2.
Do the best that you can, see rule 1.
Rule 3.
I don't care. "Just help us follow rule one and two."
Rule 4.
If you follow rules 1-3. Sargent will take care of you as always. We are a team.
Ask Sargenant for help immediatly. Really before it is to late or you mess up rule one or two.... :D

All knows who the leaders unless the COC is failing.
NCO's are in charge of PT. Minute by minute.
We are where the rubber meats the road.
They know our rank and who we are. If not there is a leadership problem.
We lead the men. Officers lead and tain us NCOs and trust us to fill thier mission objectives.
Once I had an officer call me out during Bn PT. "Sir, you need to speak with the Smag. For now do what I asked, please. Sir."
We NCO's represent our officers. We serve and aid you in your requirement to fufuill the missions.
CPL/SPC(P)-CSMA.... it is the only thing we work to do other than care "for Jane and Joe."

We work it on the authority of the Company, Bn, BDE NCO that places us in charge of training that day.
It is thier responsability to achieve what the officerers briefed them on and requested they accomplish them to do for thier Quartily and anual NOCER.

As enlisted. I care less about rank recognition.
Grow a spine... Follow regulatons customs and such!
I would dress down a CPT O-3 it they were breating me. Scary. It could and was insorbunidation at times. UCMJ. Good friend. (Frack in aviation crew chief days , a Major or LTC if they were bad behaved).
I am Airborne, and Sapper leader, crew chief, engineer...

Esprit de Corps: The winning Spirit within the Army
When I came to Fort Brag in 1987 as a "LEG" (NAP Non Airborne Personell) Jump Quilifed 1 month later... LOL.
With Aviation wings... I ate some crow. A LOT OF IT! As long as it was fair, fuin and Esprit de Corps: The winning Spirit within the Army.
I told all those disrectful offivers and SFC+ NCOs, to call my 1sg or Smag.
There is no place for that shit in our military.
Now about buying a belt or something...
That is not new. Ask your NCO for help.
I missed it...
Looks like DA made a change...
Everyone is going through the change.
My daily brief... 82nd Avn... 1/17th air Cav, 20th/37th Eng....
"You little fucking rat bastards...."
"How much do I love you....."
Sargeant we are your life and family....
"Liars, but thanks..."
"I need some help. We will take care of one another like always...I have bad news...
DA is "fracking us again.""
"Everyone is going to just do it. Our squad needs to figure out how to make sure we are 100% and not 60%."
"Kaminiski and Foot, we are going to pass the hat. They can't afford it"
I will make it up, car repairs, Salmon, extra day off...
You are my men and my friends. We help one another.
I will take it in the short. We are a family...
Anyone that does... I promise that squad memember I will give you 3 day weekend.
PLt daddy will either kill me or support me.

I will buy yours now.
Anyone going to pay me back or am I fucked?
You know I will pay for all of ours...
