Hello everybody. I just recently submitted all of my documents for Retirement to my unit and one of the most important documents was my 4187 signed by my Company Commander. I needed that signed so that I can send it to the Transitions Office, which I did in order to receive more retirement documents. Now the reason that I am reaching out onto Rallypoint is because after about 2 weeks of waiting and wondering were the rest of my paperwork was in the process, I find out that everything has stopped. Now the due to my mos 91X not being MTOED in this unit anymore since OCT 20, which I already knew, my retirement paperwork was stop and an Unkown 4187 was submitted up for a No Cost Move to another unit on post.

I never new anything about this unknown move or this 4187. No body contacted me about this 4187 or this move.

My main question to you would be? Can they do that without notifying the individual, and would that be the right thing to do to brand new unit?

Your command can move you wherever they deem on the post. The 4187 isn't a request to HRC it's not even a 4187 "submitted" to anyone. It's orders directing you to move and the orders are recorded on a 4187. It doesn't matter what piece of paper it's on, the orders are directed from a higher headquarters. You can still retire in the same date you intended, you just have a new CO

I'm not a 420A, but this seems very strange to me. You're about to retire, so they can carry you as excess on the UMR. Someone is being extremely lazy.

Yes, it can happen. 4187s do not need the affected Soldier's approval or knowledge prior to submission, however you should get a copy or at least notice once approved.

This was, in all honesty, likely a clerical oversight. Someone got an order to transfer 91Xs, and they did so. They did not stop to investigate whether anynof those affected had special circumstances - or they did, but someone above the clerk doing the 4187s was being lazy and had a "just get it done" thought process. The likelihood that this was done intentionally to saborahe you is infentessimally low. You can likely bring this up to your losing and gaining S1s and have them reacind the 4187, allowing you to retire in peace. Likely, but not guaranteed.

Go talk to your losing Commander and S1, then talk to your gaining S1 and Commander. The four of them should be able to come to some form of agreement. Chances are good you stay where you are at. If not, likely can keep your retirement packet and just do a new 4187, which gaining Commander should be willing to sign right away and get you back on track.
