Were we in Burma in WWI? I know we were in WWII.

I met a guy today sporting a POW/MIA tattoo, he said his dad was a POW during WWI, Burma. I was wondering cause the guy said his dad was 18 yrs old first mission i think Navy his boat sank and his dad was captured. Same token, he also said he spent his time in the Ardennes. Is that physically possible?

SGT Edward Perez, I thought I had run across a reference earlier, but am still trying to put my finger on it. Have been unable to find it tonight - will look again tomorrow.

SGT Edward Perez, I found the reference I was looking for, and I was mistaken. It does not appear that we had troops in Burma in WWI, and the ship sinking reference I had found was not off of Burma.
