Edited 5-1-2022 -The transition from working 33+ years, after returning from Vietnam, to retirement in 2005 at the age of 55... was the most unexpected Life Event. My plan was to work until normal retirement age.
Having been on medical leave since May 15th, 2004 I was required to file for Social Security Disability after being off work 15 weeks in order to remain on my employers medical leave & insurance. I applied Aug. 30th, 2004... and was approved Nov. 17th, 2004... effective November 1, 2004. At that point I retired in Jan. 1, 2005. In Feb. 2005 I went in my first prison... under "Prison Fellowship Ministry" & have continued in Jail/Prison Ministry ever since. I had a plan... but God had a better plan for my life... like always.

I am humbled. I do at times question my effectiveness... especially when compared to pre-Covid times. It makes me wonder if His plan has changed for me & I just haven't figured it out.

I was involuntarily inducted (drafted) during my 1st year (1968) of law school. I was approaching half-way through my 1L year when I got drafted. Fortunately, UC Hastings Law kept my enrollment open for four years and I went from active duty to the infantry in the CA ARNG and returned to law school.
