I'm a Marine and I laughed out loud when that rifle fell apart. This is the funniest video I've seen of the few, the proud. I've got to admit, it was a VERY nice recovery, even though it broke. Good thing the sling held it together. A fine example of discipline while under duress.
I'd be willing to bet they eventually had some laughs about it later over a few beers at the Club.

Nobody's perfect. But notice also that nobody panicked.

If one watches the Marine Corps Silent Drill Platoon perform several times, they will eventually see something like this. Fun to watch, however. That Cpl seems mildly indignant when returning the now-unserviceable weapon to the LCpl... "Here. Take this damned thing!" I would classify this as "the Perfect Recovery." Have a great weekend, all & Carry On!

The throw to the LCpl could have been better. It was high but still catchable and not where the LCpl was expecting to receive it. I think the problem was partly a bad throw and partly a bad catch, but the inspected will always take the blame. ; )
