In a domestic emergency response, the equation is simple: Less time and distance = more lives saved. Which community do you serve?"<br /><br />But we aren't community based any longer. The "Armed Forces Reserve Center" is destroying that. My troops come from clear across the state--at great expense to them (A PFC nets very little for a drill weekend with a 4+ hour drive). We have sacrificed community basing (and the bank balances of many junior troops) on the altar of cost savings through consolidation. AFRCs has created a negative in all aspects of soldiering! Luckly I'm in a unit that has been left alone and we always have soldiers wantin. To transfer. Wish I could take them all! 1SG Private RallyPoint Member Tue, 21 Oct 2014 20:26:20 -0400 2014-10-21T20:26:20-04:00 Response by SPC David S. made Oct 21 at 2014 8:40 PM https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/a-recent-national-guard-facebook-post?n=287539&urlhash=287539 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>This is Peter robbing Paul - Paul being the NG and ARR and Peter being Active Army. The idea is put the money where its needed most and hope nothing happens where it was taken from. But as we all know hope is not a plan. SPC David S. Our armories are spread out all over the state and are located well geographically. Also, all junior enlisted have the option of locating to a unit that is closest to their home of record if they are drilling at a unit that is outside of 50 miles. Most soldiers only start drilling farther away from their HOR when you start to get E6/E7+ and the slots become more slim for promotion.
