If accepted for OCS, how does moving my family stateside from overseas work? Would they have to wait in Japan until I am done with training?

Currently in Japan, Active Duty, USAF. Applying to OCS. If anyone has done this i have some questions.

If accepted, how does moving my family state side work? Would they have to wait in Japan until I am done with training? I understand that initial training (BCT) and (OCS) they'll probably be in Japan, as for BOLC assuming its less than 180 days, will I still be able to move them ahead of time to the states before I get my orders for my first post?

BOLC was a PCS enroute, which should mean that you can elect to have them moved to your TDY location from your original post. Whether that works with a change of Services I don't know. You should be able to take to Travel at your nearest Army post and they should be able to tell you more.
Enroute will keep you from being Non-available quarters at your BOLC location.

This is a question for your recruiter to answer, or the MEPS. There are several options to handle moving family during training and you need to know what the current policies are

If you going to OCS you will come unaccompanied. You will be able to move your family for your BOLC. Some BOLCs are only 4 months and you PCS. I don't know if it would be worth 2 moves. I would plan on having then move for your first duty station.
