Administrative fixes the Navy should strongly consider https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/administrative-fixes-the-navy-should-strongly-consider

If I were still on active duty, this is what I'd suggest to the new CNO and his/her leadership team: 1.) Reinstitute quotas for the Navy & Marine Corps Commendation Medal and the Navy & Marine Corps Achievement Medal so commanding officers can increase the value of those decorations. 2.) Eliminate meritorious advancement, i.e., CAP, turbo crow, etc., with the exception of battlefield/combat promotions. 3.) Eliminate the Sailor of the Year program and replace it with Unit of the Year, which would pit small commands versus small, shore versus shore and combatant versus combatant. 4.) Eliminate Task Force Uniform and the NWU Type I along with it and replace aqua camo with regular rip-stop camo or, God forbid, coveralls. Ready....set...go!! Eliminate the requirement for warfare pins. Separate the wheat from the chaff by seeing who really wants one as opposed to those who are just going through the motions. I like being able to guide and help my First Classes to achieve that recognition. I wouldn't do away with it but I would have it add maybe 50 points to the overall score for a command's "Unit of the Year" package.
4) NWUs at sea make ZERO sense to me and they are like wearing pajamas. COVERALLS!!! YES!!! CPO Private RallyPoint Member Sun, 17 May 2015 14:01:08 -0400 2015-05-17T14:01:08-04:00 2015-04-22T21:41:26-04:00
