With the addition of the ADPs you can get a quick snapshot and a basic understanding of the subject without having to read 1000 pages of stuff that makes your brain melt.

The ADPs are mandatory reading/knowledge for NCOs, you will learn and be tested on doctrine throughout your NCOES journey. If you do not pay attention and make it to the Sergeants Major Academy you will get bulldozed because that is all you do.

Read it, learn it, know it and teach your Soldiers. You would be surprised how well your team, squad, platoon, company, or battalion will perform if you correctly implement Mission Command (ADP 6-0). You will be surprised how much better of a leader you will be if you identify and use all leadership traits in the leadership requirement model (ADP 6-22). You will be surprised to find the definition of the Profession of Arms and what it takes to be a member, and what it takes to remain a member (ADP 1).

Print ADP 1, ADP 3-0, ADP 5-0, ADP 6-0, ADP 6-22, ADP 7-0 in PDF booklet format and carry them with you in your leader book. Read them while you are on staff duty, or dropping a deuce. It's important!!! Paragraph 1-8 sums it all up in a few sentences. Those in the Profession of Arms use doctrine in two contexts: study/reflection and conducting operations. I think many believe it is the definitive catalogue of answers--it's merely a collection of TTP to drive critical and creative thinking.

As far as the employment of ADPs to summarize and ADRPs to do a deep dive, we probably have more clarity now than at any point. The ability to go broad or deep is much simpler. Response by LTC Private RallyPoint Member made May 3 at 2015 7:26 AM 2015-05-03T07:26:38-04:00 2015-05-03T07:26:38-04:00 2015-05-03T02:21:05-04:00
