I'm currently getting ready to go to the board so I can get promoted to SGT and make the transition and start a packet. Any information on what I need to start doing or advice would be very helpful. He told me that in the last couple of months there haven't been a single 25B promoted from SPC to SGT. That been said, I wish you success in your board and that you can accomplished what others haven't. We gotta keep the motivation and keep the good work until we get that shot. SGT Private RallyPoint Member Response by SGT(P) Private RallyPoint Member made May 11 at 2015 10:56 AM 2015-05-11T10:56:40-04:00 2015-05-11T10:56:40-04:00 CW3 Private RallyPoint Member 659247

Your Accessions NCO will have a plethora of information for you. Requirements constantly change so keep yourself informed and updated. I believe you need at least two years as an NCO in the MOS you are applying for - four is preferable. A warrant officer is supposed to be technically proficient in their MOS – this is where you need to take a hard look at yourself and decide if you’re ready. In all honesty, the credibility of the warrant officer corps has been damaged over the years because Soldiers are becoming warrant officers who aren’t ready. You don’t want to be one of these warrant officers because no one will take you seriously or listen to you. With that said, here’s a website that will get you started: http://www.usarec.army.mil/hq/warrant/ Response by CW4 Russ Hamilton (Ret) made Sep 12 at 2015 9:20 AM 2015-09-12T09:20:36-04:00 2015-09-12T09:20:36-04:00 CW3 Private RallyPoint Member 960914

As someone who has transitioned from 25B to 255A, my best advice to you right now would be this: STAY ACTIVE DUTY. Being a warrant officer is great, but in the Army Reserve, you might wind up stuck somewhere because of a lack of open positions, so it's hard to grow.
