After being DA select for recruiting before re-enlisting, how can I avoid losing my slot when re-upping needs of the Army? https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/after-being-da-select-for-recruiting-before-re-enlisting-how-can-i-avoid-losing-my-slot-when-re-upping-needs-of-the-army <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>My window does not open until June however, I just got DA selected. I have only done needs of the army re-ups in my career and I was looking forward to having options with the next one. I have been DA selected before, had to re-up needs of the army, and then my packet got denied and I was stuck with an unnecessary 3 1/2 year commitment to the army and stuck at a crappy assignment. Not wanting that to happen again. Any advice would be appreciated. Army only please. That having been said, it would appear that options may be somewhat limited. If window is not yet open, I would think that you could seek advice from your branch personnel section such as reenlisting for a school enroute to PCS or an assignment as a service school instructor. Always try to get a benefit to reenlistment be it education, unit of assignment or station of choice. If you have more than 10 years at your ETS you&#39;re considered a careerist and won&#39;t receive movement options. If your recruiting assignment falls through you can request to have that contract renegotiated for a movement option. Establish rapport with local High Schools, Colleges, Mayors, State and Federal Senators and Congressman as you need to be their best friend who gets ALL names and POC information for potential recruits. As a former DA HR Director, Senior Retention/Recruiting Officer I do know what I’m talking about.
