I think we had an SMA or General decide it looked unprofessional, that's the best answer I can get from people.

SPC (Join to see) - it was due to changing the uniforms to acus. Biggest mistake that the army ever decided on

SSG (Join to see) - Yeah... Not the best looking design. I definitely prefer the OCP's. Though admittedly I wish the OCP's had the shoulder pockets they ACU's have instead of the zipper pocket.

Not up with all the recent uniform regulations, but rolled sleeves were the norm with the chocolate chip fatigues at HQUSCENTCOM in the mid 80s.

Yeah most branches did back then I'm pretty sure. I love it now, the only problem I have with it, which is a small gripe albeit, is there is a lot more material on the sleeves nowadays to roll up. A lot of soldiers look extremely sloppy doing it.

I don't think a lot of Soldiers were shown how SGT. I think if the unit commander is going to say yes to it then they need to start from there and show the leadership how to properly roll if they don't then trickle that info down until it hits the Privates. Then no one looks a hot mess over it.

Reminds me of a great story from my HQCENTCOM days. Thursday was our wear chocolate chip uniform day. On my first day wearing this this uniform, this Air Force flier did his best to blouse the pant legs as required. A Marine major who worked for me came in, took one look and broke out laughing. His comment was, sir let me show you how to do this properly. He did and I passed his inspection for the rest of the time he worked in the office.

My Commander said no to it so I haven't done it yet. Not that it really matters for us, we don't have the best AC and are outside a good amount so they let us take our tops off when we're working. After you head back inside you put it back on.
