Once your paperwork is finalized & updated BAH with no dependents, then technically you'd not be eligible to keep your BAH, if there's government housing available (i.e. barracks) on the base you're on. As SFC Christopher Smith said you can get a waiver. Since going forward, you'd most likely have to revert to the Barracks & apply for an exception to policy in order to get authorized BAH & live off post.Response by LTC Private RallyPoint Member made Aug 4 at 2019 10:48 AM2019-08-04T10:48:41-04:002019-08-04T10:48:41-04:00SFC Private RallyPoint Member4880247<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Each post has its specific rules, but the general rule is that only E6 and above are authorized BAH without dependents. If you are still on a lease you can request an exception to allow you to receive BAH through the rest of the lease. Once you stop receiving BAH you have to move back into the barracksResponse by SFC Private RallyPoint Member made Aug 4 at 2019 12:42 PM2019-08-04T12:42:34-04:002019-08-04T12:42:34-04:00MAJ Rene De La Rosa4882164<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>All based on the chain of command and how the enlisted ranks pan out in the barracks.Response by MAJ Rene De La Rosa made Aug 4 at 2019 11:07 PM2019-08-04T23:07:24-04:002019-08-04T23:07:24-04:00SFC Stephen P.4883114<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>In my case post regulations allowed (with BN CDR approval) it because I owned real estate locally. Had I been renting I would have been hosed.<br /><br />Generally speaking, barracks are the standard and any other housing is an exception.Response by SFC Stephen P. made Aug 5 at 2019 8:07 AM2019-08-05T08:07:41-04:002019-08-05T08:07:41-04:002019-08-04T02:29:04-04:00
