Air Force enlisted to Army Warrant Officer

I have had a couple of my troops ask about crossing over from the Air Force to the Army to pursue becoming a Warrant Officer.

Any advise, tips, tricks, etc for this process? Is it hard? Is it recommended?

I had nearly went to be a helicopter pilot and warrant officer around 1979. My seizures mitigated against that....

I'm not too knowledgeable about switching branches, but I can tell you that they should definitely get in touch with current warrant officers. Part of the process is getting good letters of recommendation from current serving WO's. Make sure that your pt is up to and beyond Army standards. And most importantly have patients and diligence, you may need to turn in your packet several times to be considered for selection.

I have met many Warrant Officers that started out in the Air Force. Everything they need to know is easily found at the Warrant Officer Recruiting website. Finding a Warrant to have a face to face conversation about life as a Warrant is recommended, but if your troops are not near an Army base, there are plenty of us here that would do it by phone.

I served with a guy at Fort Rucker in the mid-1980s who had spent a number of years in the Air Force. At the time I knew him he was a CW4 (and I cannot remember his name anymore dangit) which meant he had spent quite some time in the Army to get to where he was then. He was not an Aviator, either, and so he was a long way from being considered in the "high school to flight school" category. When I asked him why he switched to the Army after spending a number of years in the Air Force, his reply was really quite poignant and left me at a loss for words. His reply was, "Because I got fed up with being an E-6(P) in the Air Force."

I want to know if this could be possible but on the guard side. Air national guard enlisted to army national guard warrant officer. Has anyone ever experienced this or know someone who has?

Has to be in a career field the army needs. Plus I think you a letter from a army warrant cw3 or higher in that career field. Forget cid. It is good.

I would say read the Rules that D.O.D has and what the Army says.. check their refs of what classes are needed that would aid in crossing over. Don’t play tricks they may only get one in trouble later.. I don’t know if related but I knew of a fella that went crazy taking Clep tests. To get a degree w/o sitting through classss.. a person can. BE just so smart ... take all the clep tests.. but are they really able to actually do the work at the job? Some things still take some common sense to know if it will work or not.. sometimes conditions say it will not.. no matter what a degree said it should do.. degrees learned from books that May espouse only theory based on more theory .. but not actual practical hands on (hands dirty, sweaty work). Guy has a wall full of degrees from clep tests they took.. but no actual practical Hands on knowledge just a degree from a high faluting that says based on theory it is so., So get in and find what needs to be done.. what actual hands on Greasy knowledge is needed.
