Another high profile sexual harassment/assault charge in the military. Are commanders turning a blind eye to SHARP cases?

There is a movement for removing commanders from adjudicating sexual harassment/assault proceedings.
Do you think this will improve the SHARP climate within the military by having a private company prosecute sexual harassment/assault proceedings?

Does it shatter the entire purpose of military justice or NJP?

The military as a whole has been fighting Sexual Assault and Harassment hard lately. It is quite understandable, seeing how there have been as many high profile charges as of late. I have only been in for 10 years, and I have seen the military move from POSH to SHARP, and a heavy emphasis placed on it.

The SHARP climate will not shift until those who are committing these offenses are not feared, those bystanders who have the ability to make a change do so, and those who are the victims come forward with the pleas. Whether it is a General or a Private, they need to be treated the same, whether victim or perpetrator. Moving the SHARP judicial process to an outside source may take away the "fear" or "intimidation" aspect, but that should be a non-issue regardless.

Yes, this shatters the faith and trust that the NJP should have. It is a proverbial kick in the groin.

Great topic, CSM!
