<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Usually for overseas assignments (OCONUS - Outside the Continental United States) for Soldiers in Grades O-3 and below are done unaccompanied. Then, once the Soldier reports to the Replacement Battalion/station (or whatever it&#39;s called now) they are given their permanent assignment &amp; PCS Orders. The Soldier&#39;s family can then join them once the Soldier gains command sponsorship for their family members. At least that&#39;s how it was done when I was assigned to Germany in the 1990s in my prior service.
