When I receive my PCS orders, am I able to move my family early before I PCS So they can establish a household? It may require the property owner to continue on a month to month basis if you are on PCS orders within 3-6 months of the termination of your lease. Advise that you will be moving your family as soon as authorized. Moving your Family prematurely may cause some unexpected hardships as you may over run your finiancial authorizations. Ensure that you are coordinating with travel to ensure you know what they are. Thank you for your service. You can move your family worldwide at your own expense. You could talk to your landlord and ask to stay a little longer paying by month. I suggest talking to your lanlord ASAP and request if you and your family can continue living there on a month-month basis. You can also call ahead to your new duty station’s housing office and speak with them on the matter and see what your options are. Good luck. However, this may be something to verify with Housing; once you receive your orders you can start the moving process. Since you are on an unaccompanied tour, this would fall entirely n your spouse, and not the nicest way to introduce her to the military moving system. She only needs a Power of Attorney and she can schedule all the activities. I have done this once; and did a PPM (old DITY) when I return d from my deployment and met up with my wife at new duty station. This was over a decade ago and the war was on so like many other things there were some corners being cut so check the blocks and see what you can do. If you getborders, your wife sets up a pick up, packs house out, finds a new house at new duty station unsure what your signing in would affect this process, unless there is a On Post Housing rule that I am unaware of. I have always lived off post. Just a thought, still believe previous comments are the Army Answers and safe way to make sure you and your family transition smoothly. I was in Kuwait for all of 2011...and received my orders to PCS in SEP 11 with a report date of FEB 12. My wife and children moved to SC in NOV 2011 (while I was still in Kuwait) and the Army did the move. I paid ZERO out of pocket expenses. Not sure why most are saying "at your own expense" - but that was not my experience in 2011. Rules may have changed...not sure. NOW - you will continue to receive your BAH for the location of your family until you in-process your new duty station...unless you submit a new BAH Re-Certification.
