Am I able to return to the unit I ETS'ed from when I return to the military?

I recently ETS'ed from the Army at the beginning of May 2018, and I am currently interested in returning to the military. I quickly decided after working as a contractor that I wanted to go back to the Army life, and was curious as to whether or not it would be possible for me to return to the unit that I ETS'ed from. I have only been out for a couple of months, and I know that there is still slots available for my rank and mos in the company. Also would anyone have any advice on the process for returning. Thank you!

Sigint, and you want back in? I think if they are even taking prior service, there’s no guarantee of a unit assignment.

What unit were you when you got out? What contract did you land with? Why are you unhappy with it?

You need to contact a recruiter. There are options and depending on your MOS, current strength and the fill rate of your former unit all plays a part. Thank you for your service.

99.9% chance you will not return to your previous unit right off the bat.

If you haven’t completed 8 years then yes. If you have, yes but meeting age requirements, let joe off the street recruiter bring you back in. So yes

you're gonna have to go back through the while enlistment process again with the recruiter. And welcome to "needs of the army". Prior service business rules will dictate what mos are available for your rank at the time of enlistment.

Before you make that decision, remember the reason you got out of the military. I recently ETS’d in May as well. But, I left because, there were things I wanted to do while I am fairly young. I miss the life almost everyday but, I have to stay focused.
Also I joined the guard and it’s like a regular PCS.

Probably, when I ETS'd in 1977 from 124th Maint. I re-enlisted in 1980 and was sent to 27th Maint Co both at Ft. Hood. I thought I would never get away from that post but things are never as they once were. If you were happy with your old Unit try and not tarnish those memories by going back. People change and so do places.

If you want to return to the unit you ETS from when your at the MEPS request to be stationed at the post your unit is on WHEN YOU GET YOUR ORDERS for that post I cant say that enough WHEN YOU GET YOUR ORDERS for that post FAX them to the company commander of the unit you want to return to and ask the Commander or 1SGT to contact the replacement and have you assigned to your last unit.. Keep in mind if their MTOW is full you might not be able to get assigned.
