Am I authorized to wear my blue chord with my Class A/B uniform after reclassing?

Let’s just say when I graduate from AIT for my secondary MOS. Some one told me it was authorized, however I do not believe so. Might be a dumb question. Just curious.

No, it is only worn by those that carry an 11-series MOS.

You’re right in your initial assumption. AR 670-1 Para 19-30 covers Distinctive items authorized for Infantry personnel.

I was a US Defense and Air Attache and Security Assistance Officer my last 4 assignments before retiring. I high value my fancy formal silver cord which I like to wear with my uniform if attending a military dinner, or asked to speak. If I ever get married, will wear it at my wedding and wear it for burial!!

No. You can only wear your blue cord if you hold an 11 series MOS and are currently assigned to an 11 series position. (The only exception is recruiters.)

After Completing Infantry AIT Ft Jax '69, We were all feeling good....Queen of the Battle....11B...gung ho Etc and wearing blue rope and backgrounds. A bunch of us got directly bused to Ft Knox Armor School for M-113 training. We showed up at Armor School, told us to take off all the Blue Infantry gear! Claimed since we haven't even been assigned to an Infantry outfit we couldn't wear it at Ft Knox..or words to that effect! Kinda pissed us off too!! Came away with MOS 11B1U.

ok now i carry 11 B C H 94 something And half a dozen skill Qualifiers. I would rather be in the field than wearing Class A's.

There are several people saying only for 11 series.
This is a half answer, and at that not fully correct.
It is when your PRIMARY MOS is any form of infantry. 11 and 18 series. For instance, I will still have the 11B MOS when I convert to the recruiter MOS, but I can no longer wear my cord when it is my secondary MOS.

No. The blue cord is authorized for 11 series and 18 series personnel when assigned to an 11 or 18 series billet.

The blue cord is not a personal award.

No. You can only wear the blue Infantry cord if you are A. qualified in an Infantry MOS AND B. serving in a position which requires an 11 series MOS. The only authorized exception to this is Army recruiters who have held an Infantry MOS.
