American head gear for our forces would be Stetson. Black=Cav. We adopt a different color for the rest. We are cowboys, not french. Go.

Something like light blue Stetsons for infantry, green Stetsons for Army Special Forces orange Stetsons for Signal? Or more like Black for Cav, Green for SF, Tan for Rangers, Maroon for Airborne, and dark brown for everyone else?

Or do you go with traditional branch colors, which would make Cav yellow.

Interesting idea, but I'm not sure how well it would be received.

CH (MAJ) Private RallyPoint Member, doesn't work for me! I'm old school (retired) and would suggest a return to the old service cap and garrison cap (glider patch for airborne). Retain the berets for Special Forces and Rangers.

My feelings are that when we are talking about budget crisis and personnel cuts, I would rather not spend money on uniform changes that are not necessary. Ditch the ACU, that's fine. But there is no need to change a uniform that just changed 5 years ago because there's a "new dog in the yard".

At this point, I think that part of the Army's morale problem is that it is changing so rapidly that the Soldiers are losing a sense of being a part of history, a part of a tradition, and a member of an organization that has more than 200 years of dedicated service to the American people.

I've been in for 7+ years now, and we have changed our combat uniforms, our PT uniforms (twice), our dress uniforms, our headgear, regulations on the combat patch, and a variety of other things. Some of these changes, like the camouflage, were necessary. Others didn't have a significant impact on budgets (like the beret). But at this point, I think we need to be focusing on much more important things like identifying morale problems and working towards solutions on dealing more effectively with Soldiers that are posting pictures of themselves "thugged out", flashing gang signs, dealing drugs (and talking about it on Facebook) while in the military, rape cultures, the suicide trend, the problems with retention.

There are so many other things to focus on. I think I'd say "Let's roll with what we've got at this point and hit the next point on the agenda."
