SFC Drake I love ya brother, but you seem to find some of the worst news for the Army!!

I know it has nothing to do with you and you are just putting out what you are reading but man....... Will it ever stop?!?!?!?!?! Some times I am just embarrassed to be part of the same service these monsters are in.

These predators are pathetic for even thinking they are going to get away with these crimes. I wonder if there's something in the screening process that is missing that is allowing folks like this to make their way into the service.

I'm sickened by these actions, but I have to admit, I'm torn. On one had I find myself wondering what the hell is happening to our Armed Forces, but on the other hand I want to believe that 1SG Private RallyPoint Member is absolutely correct in that all of the training is paying off and these incidents are being reported (as they should be) and thoroughly investigated (as they should be).
I sincerely hope it's the later.

I hope they make an example out of him. He seems to have been a violent person and predator. When a soldier is deployed or in basic he are very vulnerable. That is a special place for people like this. I can't believe he did it for so long at different places and just know got caught. I would have been afraid would be have happened to a soldier if he was not stopped.

This is really disappointing to me. this is only a small percentage of the military but this is what society sees and portrays. Seems like there has been more of this over the last 5 years or so compared to when I joined 12 years ago. Not sure why? Different type of soldiers in the military now, stress, dehumanization of being in a war for so long, or what. I find it hard to believe that it was happening a decade ago and people just ignored it.

I remember my ROTC CO telling us something profound that I took to heart. Even though we are held to a high standard of conduct, human nature will over power good judgement. He said the military is a microcosm of our society. This means that if 5% of our society are rapists then we can expect 5% of our service members will be as well. It may not be exact but it will be somewhere in that ball park. It appears that as people gain more rank or authority they may compelled to abuse that authority or feel that there is a less chance they will get caught. This is why I believe we are seeing more and more of this type behavior from people in senior positions.

I believe its a top down problem and the leading by example. It seems every time you turn around you someone with authority, like a GO, senior enlisted and other high level unit commanders are being busted for some sexual issue. What does this say to the lower echelons? It sends a message that this is becoming the norm. It does not matter how many SAPR briefings you attend the problem will still exist.

At least this guy got caught. I hope he gets to have a long stay in Kansas. maybe if he is lucky the bed sheets will still be warm from his AF counterpart that just added a vacant cell in Leavenworth.

Cases of convicted forcible sexual assault (and-tangentially murder) only have one legitimate outcome in a profession of arms or brotherhood of warriors: death.

We owe it to our society to require proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a jury of one's peers.

But we also owe it to ourselves and our brotherhood to mete out appropriate justice in keeping with our code. Unjust use of violence must be answered with violence.

Edit:
With all respect to SFC Drake I would suggest that "debauchery" is the wrong word here. Debauchery can be used in a semi- positive sense, and certainly does not necessarily involve violence. I would recommend "unjustifiable crime" "savagery" or "dishonorable idiocy."
