Any advice for an NCO going to MOS-T next month?

I will be reporting next month to start my training. (17E) Any advice or things I should be expecting as an NCO?

Reclassed twice. Lead by example, do not be unprofessional towards or hang out with the Privates. Stay away from them off duty. Ficus on your studies and move on. Best of luck.

When I have reclassed with NCOs....twice....they were told that while they were NCOs they were also on Student Status and therefore had no authority to correct any IET student for any infraction. The interactions with the IETs were to be during POI time and no other time.

Stay away from the IET students. Only deal with them during class and that’s it

Like anything else you must continue to Lead and inspire. Maintain a professional example IAW with Army regulations and local FORSCOM/TRADOC regulations and Student SOP etc. Remember that your peers and other people don’t care what you know when they know that you care. Caring, participation and attention to detail is your secret to success. Your primary focus is strictly a challenging academic training environment and student status. Study and train at every opportunity. Do not fraternize! As an NCO always be a mentor others, stand tall and professional, be equally a doer leader and team player. Share the knowledge, but don’t be a know it all. Be humble, diplomatic and inspiring especially amongst the IET troops and Cadre. BTW, years ago I re enlisted and volunteered to re class from 62B30 to a 12B30 at Fort Leonard Wood Missouri. It’s the most fun, mud and misery I ever had. More importantly very rewarding towards achieving my final years in uniform successfully as a Army Instructor 12B40H with much success and personal gratitude. I wish I could do it all again. ESSAYONS!

I'm currently a MOS-T with the 17C school house. If you're the highest ranking MOS-T in your class, you'll serve as a class leader. You will form up as an entire school house daily (17E/17C, MOS-I's and MOS-T's). Otherwise your interactions with the IET Soldiers are generally limited to class. Currently there are opportunities to serve as a "squad leader" and PT with the IET Soldiers in the mornings. This is on a voluntary basis and could serve as justification for a promotion board in your Secondary Zone. If you have any specific questions, feel free to message me directly.

Be a good student, and don't let your rank get in the way of your training and education.
You're learning a new task, just like the Privates.
Don't be to good to help the junior Soldiers, or to join them on tasks and details.
They're going to be watching you, and you can make a huge first impression on these AIT kids in terms of whether junior NCO's are professionals and part of a team, or selfish divas who don't care about their juniors.
Make a good first impression.
