Just keep repeating this phrase, "this too shall pass". It will seem like an eternity, and not all the shennanigans end after Basic...but you'll be surprised how short a time it really is. I just read about a 55 year old who just went through-hell, if he can, we all can :)

Make sure your affairs are in order before shipping. You will have little to no cell phone access for ten weeks. Postal mail is your only contact with outside world. Although emergency leave exists, it requires Red Cross message and is reserved for extreme situations involving death or serious hospitalization of family member.

Write home. Pay attention to detail. Keep a positive attitude. You're going to have rough days and nights. You will want to quit. Don't. Before you know it, you will be graduating. Write home.

Stay focused on excelling and making it through.
Remember to keep your mouth shut (unless you like doing push ups all day)
For many, Basic Training is one of the hardest parts of your enlistment. You will remember it long after your service ends.
It is 90% a mind game to see if they can break you. Don't let it get you down. You need to be broken down so you can build up. It's how you "build" a good soldier.
When graduation days comes, you will feel like you conquered the beast. Enjoy that moment, remember it and how it made you feel, and use that memory to guide you in your future enlistment.

It's all a mind set, just remember the quickest way to finish, is just to finish. Be humble and pay attention. Three things to keep in mind: be in the right place, at the right time , In the right uniform and you'll do fine.

Ears open mouth shut and be a sponge. You're getting paid to work out and shoot weapons. Look out for the ones on your left and right and they will do the same. Team work.

Being hurt and being uncomfortable are two different things. Take care of yourself if you get hurt, but don’t confuse being uncomfortable with being hurt. You will be uncomfortable a lot, most likely. But don’t succumb to being uncomfortable, take a knee, face out, drink water and pull security.

This to shall pass. It just takes longer if you get hurt or put yourself in a hurt mentality when all you need is proper self-care.

Go light and carry the basic shaving stuff, plenty of blades shampoo, tooth brush and paste and several bars of soap. All the other comments are good.
