You literally just started your MOS duties not even two months ago. Why do you feel you need a different MOS? What issues are you having with adjustments?

This story will sound similar to the ones you’ve heard millions of times before; I was screwed over at the recruitment center.

I had intended on quitting at AIT but family members encouraged me to continue on. Those same family members I joined the army to help. But things have been going downhill with them since I joined and seems to be getting worse.

In all honesty I intended on trying for entry level discharge.

PVT (Join to see) - Time for some mentoring.

Being screwed over at the Recruiting office is a tale as old as time. What you can do is move forward and perform as best you can. If serving as a Tanker is it, then do it to the best of your ability. If Tanker is not for you...get with your NCOs to see what avenues are available. If this doesn't work...seek out the Retention NCO that serves your unit and see what they have to say. If you can switch out, then do it. Now...about the switching.

If you can switch, you need to sit down and carefully review all available MOS's you qualify for and pick the one that interests you the most AND best suits you.

As for your family, and the Army, all you can do is do what is best for you. If your family is causing you stress and interfering with your ability to serve your obligation....then you may have to either cut ties or cut back on amount of contact. It's tough. But it can be done. Again, you need to do what is best for you. Think of it this way.....if things are going downhill with your family, how is getting an Entry Level Separation going to make things better? Are the job prospects in your hometown good? As good as the Army?

You are doing something that less than 1% of the nation is capable of doing. You qualified to join the Army. You made it thru Basic and AIT. You've made it this far. Own it. Take pride in it. Now, how far can you carry it? I'm willing to bet you can go the distance. Whether that distance is the current contract or even career. Either way, you have it within you to make it as far as you want to go. BUT DON'T QUIT!!!

If you quit and get that Entry Level separation...or manage to get yourself chaptered out for APFT and/or HT/WT failure....know that you can lose benefits and then down the road, as it always ends up happening, regret for not finishing out your term of service. Regret for getting kicked out.

If it is simply stress that is getting to you, then go see the Behavioral Health folks. They are there to help. And no one (should) see you in a bad light for getting help. And even if they do, screw their opinion and you do you so you can get yourself better.

You are not on a dead end road. You have many opportunities. Seek them out. Take advantage of them. And if you ever need guidance/advice, you can either DM me here on RP or send me an email at [login to see]

You got this. You can do it. One step at a time.

First off, no there are not. Twelve months TOS is a regulation because you will PCS as part of training.

Everybody goes through this at some point in their first enlistment. It's not what you thought it would be, you're not doing your job, you just want it to be over, everything sucks. But, it's a job, with benefits and a steady paycheck. It's even a career if you stay a while. What you're doing today isn't what you'll be doing in five years even if you keep this MOS. You'll have issues adjusting to any MOS. Like Basic training, you just have to trust the process and give it time. Very soon, you'll be doing just fine in your job

It's been twenty minutes. You haven't had enough time to break in a pair of pants, much less judge an MOS you've experienced 0.000001% of... Be patient, ask questions, and LEARN.
