Any recently separated Vets have success with a VA Claim? Can you recommend a good VSO or someone to assist filing?

My personal recommendation is to make contact with a DAV National Service Officer (NSO) in your area... Here is some contact information in the DAV Chapter in Pittsburgh:

Make sure that you ask to speak with an NSO as they work hand in hand with the VA on Claims for Veterans... I worked with an excellent NSO in Massachusetts. My NSO was intimately knowledgeable on Veteran's Claims processing and handled my claim very well. Good luck Brother...

1. Before you do anything, make sure your records are complete and you have then in hand. 2. Make sure that what you are claiming is annotated/listed in your records. 3, Tho VSO differ greatly in all organizations, the DAV has a pretty good track record, followed by the AL.

Best way is to file during your transition / outprocessing. There should be access to a VSO at that time, while your are still in. Ideally, right after you do your exit medical and have all your records. If not, then try your local VFW, American Legion, or County Veterans Services!

Contact your county veterans affairs office. I live over in Chambersburg the one here in Franklin County helped me get 100 percent up from 30 percent they were great

I used AmVets; they were extremely helpful. I don't know where they operate, but I assume they are nationwide.

Go through your medical records and identify all of your medical conditions. Easiest to do electronically, so you can track what waa said about each condition.
Go online and find CFRv38, Part IV, and look up the conditions and identify the Schedule of Ratings for each condition, which will give you an idea of what your rating may be, and if you are properly articulating the severity of your conditions. This is so you know what to expect, and because it's your claim, so you should educate yourself on it.
Then, use a VSO. They do it every day, and that'll make the process easier.

Yes. Go through this guy, he's bloody brilliant. There is a backlog at the moment with the VA, they lost my NOD filed in January and only yesterday admitted that they recieved it but didn't process it. Best wishes, the good attorney here is worth your time.
