It came out a few years ago and it appeared that military personnel were going to be permitted to carry a personal firearm on post. Then news on it went silent? Here is an article about it and some of its details:

In the AF, it’s a local base decision. At my base, folks that are certified can carry.

My understanding is O5s can authorize troops to be armed.

There is always regs and memos regarding this and I have been unable to find any updates to either, in the Army. That's why I asked.
