They are the ones that make the unit what it is. Even Soldiers in a good command climate with quality people they enjoy working with will eventually stagnate. The Non-Commissioned Officers led by example and the soldiers responded wonderfully. I merely received our Commander's guidance and steered the ship. I don't miss my first Platoon. 3007, Hotel, 3rd Bn PISC. I'd be honored and glad to serve with all of the DIs and most of the Platoon. I ran across some of our Drill Instructors up the road. Bought our SDI a fifth of Crown Royal in Japan. I've had great 1SGs in my career but never any that would make me stay in the unit if they stayed.
